Psalm 22:1-15

What this passage speaks most about to me is trusting in God.

When we find ourselves in the most grievous of situations, it can feel like God has forsaken us. But God promises to never leave us, if we belong to Christ. In fact, Jesus, the most undeserving of being forsaken, experienced what it was like to have God the Father turn His face away, when Christ died on the Cross.

The word "groaning" in verse 1 expresses how deep in suffering David the psalmist is in. Personally, I can only maybe think of a couple times in my life when I felt the pain/frustration/anxiety I was going through was so bad that I could not properly express it in words. But in times of huge distress, when I'm so clueless about what to pray for, I remember Romans 8:18-27. When we find ourselves just groaning and wondering where God is in the situation, the Spirit intercedes to God for us in accordance to God's will. That's amazing!

And YET in the midst of his suffering, David gives glory to God. He remembers the tales of how God had been faithful to his fathers. And we should do the same for each other: tell stories of God's faithfulness and His power to work in any circumstance to deliver His people and glorify His Name. I hope our times of sharing in MG will do this to help us lean on God's promises even more.

Lord, thank You for sending into our hearts the Holy Spirit, our Counselor and Helper, who knows Your will. Help us in our MG to encourage each other, support each other, and speak words of truth and of Your faithfulness.... especially in times when it feels like You have hidden Yourself away from us. Help us to trust that You are still behind the fog, beyond our human perspective, working for the good of those who love You.

"But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God." -Acts 20:24

That's all there is for now.
